Weeot had a good call on taking a vote as the race thread started to get a bit bloated. I think allot of the thread started to reach into areas not specifically race related. I will use a series of polls that will reach from around wed to wed and draw out elements of the thread.

This first post is to make sure of 1 thing; Are people so far up for the setting having originally only had humans, and unfathomably powerful and removed fae interactions be the cause for other races? It is important to note that the thread also assumes goblinoids like humans to be a natural evolution and not fae related.

This is a pretty simple one if people all agree by the numbers on this evolution in the campaign it will become "cannon".
Make sure you spread the word and get people to vote for the outcome you want!

One 'n' in 'canon'.

Otherwise, agree completely.

Sure, do you agree with humans and orcs being the original races and all others occuring as a result of fae mingling in the bedroom dept?

You do realize that if this ever makes it big (get it, big? we are a micro system? Is this thing on? Damnit...) we will never hear the end of the jokes.

"Why is Microlite called microlite? Because you have to be micro to get it on with a fae!"

Work with me here people, I'm only one man!

I say yes but only because it's depraved, mind you.

i'm still sort of on the fence about this issue. On the one hand, it's a fresh approach to dwarves, elves, gnomes and the like. i kinda like that.

But on the other hand i kinda agree with luis(At least i THINK he was making a point, heh). The last thing i'd want to encourage with a microlite 20 setting is a microsized version of d20's book of erotic fantasy.

Man, if only it WOULD stop at the jokes...

I dont think that the concept is any more sexual than that of dnd's half-orcs and half-elves, it describes the history of the world, not prescribes ideas for adventures ;-)

i still havent voted, (but thanks for the restate sethdrebitko), because i dont yet understand what how it would change the game. would there be real noticeable effects or are we voting on a piece of backstory/flavor?

Well when I think fae, I am imagining mysterious mostly incorporeal  beings. I don't see to much issue with sex when taken into a normal context. In life people naturally breed, we war, we rape, we prostitute. The important thing to consider is the reason it is being implemented. If your just including sex for the sake of including it then it is kind of pointless.

Clarifying my earlier post.

While I'm all for dry jokes and never hearing the end of comments on something previously done I think we have to think about two things:

1) We'll be known as the game where humans were getting it on with fae. Nevermind what idea we have of fae, the popular idea is essentially a fairy. We will draw out some jokes. And they will be vicious. It will be our "Lose SAN", our "we failed our XXX roll".

2) We'll be known as the game where humans were getting it on with fae. Embrace it. We're not Risus or Munchkin but why not take it in stride and have a bit of siilliness? I can see the blurbs already: "Imagine a world where Man has been boom-shaka-waking-wow-wow little fairies... ok, that sounded bad but Microlite20's shared setting, the game where all of this depravity takes place is actually a well constructed work..."

Now, I'm off to boom-shaka-waka-wow-wow some sweet little fairy. I call her Bridgette. She says she's a Midget but I could tell you som of kinky stuff we've done in the woods that would have you believing, as I do, that she is one of the Fae.

I don't know European mythology paints the fae as terrifying. A shadow in the night, a shimmer in the distance, the last breath of your baby. The fae saturate existence with horrific whimsy, and seemingly no focused purpose.

that's how i see 'em. Not as cute little sprites or pixies, but beings of ancient power with a somewhat frightening sense of whimsey. people had good reason to fear them, judging from the folktales.

in that role, i think they're far more useful, not to mention interesting. Plus, faeries weren't as small as popular culture would have us believe. in a story i have in a very old book, they're depicted as being about halfling or gnome size.

The problem (so to speak) is, assuming most people even know the word fae, they are going to associate it with fairy.
