Kobolds are a perennial favorite.

If they're being classed as creatures of the Underdark, am I to assume as well that this world will have Gygaxian megadungeons and the like?

There was a long discussion awhile back on rpg.net about "living dungeons", where a prime artifact/monster was essentially the "heart" of a growing dungeon, whose corridors spread deep underground and spawn their own monsters and grow seeds of treasure and loot to lure in adventurers, and spread to new areas and grow new dungeons. I thought it was a pretty neat concept.

I think someone also mentioned it briefly on here. I really, really like the idea of it and picture the under dark to be some ancient godlike progenitor dungeon.

i just wanted to offer my two cents, don't know if that's okay or not.

Conceptually this is sort of turning into something i'd gladly pay for, and a living dungeon or two could really seal the deal. if at all possible, of course.

@Snake_Storm we have been working on this as an open community project so the more the merrier. I honestly Am not to sure about what your interested in seeing commercialy developed for it; but I don't know if I would want to go ahead with it since other people have been tossing their ideas in the but. I guess if, when. and how this actually gets lifted up into a profesionaly developed setting would be up to you guys.

i can't develop anything professionally, lol. i just like to see fresh and relatively new ideas. I'd love to give it a shot, of course, but it'd be an amateurish endeavor at best.

And as for what i'd like to see produced commercially. well that changes almost daily, lol. i'd love to pitch in, but i have two D&D style fantasy settings of my own to write, such as they are.

Maybe i can light a fire and get this thing going though. i'll see what i can do.

Ok, how about this?

Humans came first and the other races blossomed and spread through various shadowy interactions with the fae. The fae remain a faceless power base that has uncontestable power though no clear motivations. The fae should not be encountered merely things which they have themselves set in motion.

Humans began to fear the fae and so they started wiping out the fae races. The halfling were left be as it was no entirely clear if they were or were not fae. Other key slaves were kept alive for various unknown reasons by the gov. Overall most of the other races have been forced off the continent and began to reside now reside on the top left continent where they are fighting back a few growing human colonies. Overall tensions are high between the races but on the top left continent it is not uncommon to see human defectors.

The central chain of islands is controlled by strange druids of varied racial background and is completely uninhabitable. They seem hostile towards every culture that has encountered them. The bottom left continent is home to a goblinoid race which actually evolved parallel to humanity but when encountered it was assumed they were fae in origin. The humans attempted a campaign against them but their strange powers over flesh and sheer numbers beat back the humans. A small fleet of goblinoids followed the humans back to their lands, returning back to their continent where they have begun to amass an invasion force against the humans. They seem curious about human technology but their species focus on bio organic magics sets them far from comprehending its concepts.

Kobolds and other things of the underdark are dealt with cautiously as they’re origins and intentions are completely unknown. The only thing known of the kobolds is that they are typically isolationists and seem to have access to highly valuable but completely alien artifacts and technologies.

Does this seem like an ok compromise for everyone? I tried to sprinkle in some of everyone’s thoughts. If you don’t like this idea what would you propose.

I like this..
we should start to vote on some of these issues.
so player races include the standard 4, but if you are nonhuman you are kind-of outcast in the human society?

WHERE will the campaign begin or be centered. one would assume this human society that we have been discussing.

if we wanted players to be other reaces with no stigma, we could simply rule that the aristocracy of all the races works so closely that they hold the same ideals regarding tech and magic.
