Maybe one can just have fighter, scholar, rogue as the base class, and use noble, barbarian, pirate, temptress, etc... as background using the Star Wars M20 expert class rules so you could have a rogue temptress, a noble temptress, barbarian rogue etc...

The expert class add on would get the extra role for seduction, stealth, tracking, sea knowledge etc..

I think that might be a great add-on. But I think for the base rules, less is more. After all, you can easily portray those archetypes with the existing rules-set.

The ritualist above looks _very_ interesting! Smiley

In the Hyborian age, you could almost run races as classes.  Cimmerians, Hyperboreans, Gundermen, etc., are all somewhat different.

I think "Races" are pretty well covered by the current system - basically replacing DnD:s fantasy races with human "races" as per REH:s rather racist (such were the times) original

"Race" is just a label.  However, for those who prefer a diffrent term, True20 uses "Backgrounds" as their label for races.  You could adopt that.

Could always do culture as well.

I'm not sure what is being discussed here. If you check the .pdf there are already Cultures. As for swapping Cultures with Classes I think that would be to much of a departure of the current format for Microlite and the d20 roots of it all. Besides, I'm not sure what the advantage would be.

The reasons why Cultures in these rules are vague and less specific than in say Mongoose Conan (Barbarian instead of Nordheimr and Black Kingdoms tribesman for instance) is simply because it has been simplified and cut down sizewise.

Looking at using the combat in this (with the weapons as they are in mainline) for our new setting.

How have you found the Dodge/Parry/DR mechanic to work in actual play?
