someone on here does amazing doodles, i know they were sci fi doodles. could we track them down and get them to do a nice front cover of maybe a protocol droid and a fringer or twi lek rebel or something standing back to back. something that says
"this is M20SW, if you don't like it, then bugger off!"

my current printed rule set has
"M20SW
Book one - as i know there'll be more......."
and a picture from the star wars cartoons.

Sorry folks!  I have not abandoned M20SW.  I teach, so things have been super-crazy here at the end of the school year.

I've actually been working on a new starship creation system, somewhat similar to my racial template system for aliens & droids.  Sort of.  (This is what is taking so long.)  Also, the ol' gang will be in town next week, so I can at last playtest my rules instead of depending on quick simulations.  I'll probably have to tweak some things here and there in the aftermath.

But yes, that PDF is still in the works.  I have not forgotten it, and I love to see new posts here that show people are still interested in seeing it.

The first PDF will be dull text (to make it easier to print.)  After that, I might publicly beg someone to help me make a spiced up version, possibly with donated sketches or something?  For now I'm just trying to get the rules right, though.

Any advance yet?
and just so you know, and this i think is a good thing.
i have been reading over and over the simplistic yet brilliant SWM20 and finding more and more i want to try, so enthused in the star wars universe i went out and rented the star wars films i didn't have and watched the whole six through, it took me two days as i didn't want to rush it.
i then went and bought the WOTC star wars role playing starter for more thirst quench etc
and the final part is that i went to portabello in London on the weekend, i found a dusty old trade and save kind of shop and my brother
(somehow)
found a shelf with about 20 or so role play and war game books on all for a tenner (and all UNDER PRICED!!!)
i quickly swooped up the Actual SW role play main book (WHICH IS BEAUTIFUL) and the knights of the old republic ad on book, in short i now have MANY MANY MORE items and equipment and ideas and advice on how to GM and........
WELL the list goes on.
my point is this.

 Cheesy
I.O.U my re born passion for star wars (AN ULTIMATELY MORE AWESOME thing THAN MIDDLE EARTH, and that's something coming from the guy who thinks he's a hobbit!)

Thank you, Beredon (and everyone else.)

Sorry I've been out of touch for so long.  Here's what happened:

-I finally got to sit down with my regular group to run M20SW!  Everyone had a great time, however…

-About half the group liked the system just the way it is, while the other half had some problems with it.  For example, the idea of adding defense modifiers to combat was thrown around a lot (so characters would add their attack bonus to the AC and thus become harder to kill as they leveled.)

-However, making this change would then change how armor works.  And Jedi deflection.  And antagonists, etc, etc…  In other words, it would change a lot of other things about the game.

-This was just one example of several suggestions.  I'm currently mulling over some of these suggested changes from the first playtest.  Part of me is reluctant to change anything- not because I think my first draft is a work of perfection or anything (because it isn't) but because tweaking things around too much would make the M20SW characters incompatable with other 3.X material…  And you KNOW how much fun it would be to take four Jedi through the Temple of Elemental Evil, right?

So, I have not given up work on M20SW, but I do have some things to consider.  Again, thanks everyone for the feedback.

Nomad4life,
Thank you for SWM20

Of course like all of us here i chop and add, like a good festering GM.

Changed:
AC to Defense
Defense = 10 + DEX + 1/2 level
Hit Points to Vitality
Use ML20 Body Points Rule
Threshold = 1/2 STR Stat + Armor + 1/2 level
When a character takes more damage than Threshold they receive 1 wound.
When a character receives wounds make Fort save or be stunned. DC 10 + wounds
Armor provides DR only to wounds

Soldiers have a reduced armor penalty to DEX
Scoundrels duel wielding is -1 rather than -2
Specialist get a sidekick at 1/2 their level

Extra attacks stack -4 to all attacks

Added Force Power List
Cognitive
Affect Mind:  Force check vs Will save. Suggestion sounds reasonable
Battle Mind:  Force check. Every 10 grants +1 to attack, damage, and defense.
Empathy: Force check vs Will save.  Know emotional state.  Grants +4 on    communication checks with target for 10 rounds.
Farseeing:  See distant place or person, present past or future.
Fear:  Force check vs Will save.  Target has -4 to all actions for a number of rounds equal    to users force level.
Friendship:  Force check vs Will save.  Change attitude of target.
Illusion:  Force check sets DC
Telepathy:  Force check vs Will save.  Able to communicate directly with mind.

Energetic
Drain Energy: Force check. GM sets appropriate DC. Item loses power
Force Grip:  Force check vs Fort save. Target takes 1d6 per Force user level damage.
Force Lighting:  Force check vs Reflex or Force save. Target takes 1d6 damage per Force    user level.
Force Strike:  Force check vs Fort save. Target takes 1d6 damage per 2 Force user levels.
Move Object:  Size/Cost;  Tool/1,  Human/4,  Speeder/8,  TIE/16,  Falcon/32,  Corvet/64,     Star Destroyer/128
Dissipate Energy: Force check vs DC 10 + damage.
Force Flight: Move ½ force level x movement.  1 round

Biology
Surge:  Multiply movement x force user level+1 for 1 round.
Haste:  Extra attack with no penalty and defense +2 for 1 round.
Spider Walk:  move along walls ceiling with out penalty, must concentrate.
Enhanced Senses:  Can use senses way beyond normal use.
Healing:  Force check. Every 10 on result restores 1 body point. Target may benefit once     per day from healing.
Vitality Transfer:  Give vitality to another. Up to force skill per use.
Plant Surge:  Force check vs Reflex save.  Target is tangled in overgrowth.  -2 to all    actions and defense and can only move ½ speed.  Radius of overgrowth is equal    to 1 meter per force level and has a range of sight.

Meta Force
Force Defense:  Force check vs DC 10. +2 vs force skills. Last 10 rounds.
Every 5 over the DC grants an additional +2 vs force skills.
Force Stealth:  Force check vs See Force check.  Cannot be detected in the force.
See Force:  Force check vs DC 25 - Targets force level or force stealth check.
Force Light:  Force check vs Will save.  Imposes -4 to dark side beings for a number of rounds equal to the casters force level.  Damages Dark spirits 1d6 per force level.
Force Mind:  Force check.  Every 10 grants +1 to attack, damage, and defense of allies.
Must concentrate. And spend 1 vitality per round to upkeep.

I would just like to say I'm loving what I'm reading. I'm still new at this so I won't comment on how does this work/is it a good idea but it looks just like Microlite: Very cool, very simple and very malleable.

Please, somebody adopt this as their pet Art Project. I can't wait to have the finished pdf in my hands and reading it while listening to some John Williams Cheesy

I'll pm him. Not going to read the whole thing again but I'm pretty sure he mention not knowing if there was still any interest on our behalf. Maybe this will show him we like what he was doing.

I'd suggest e-mailing him, pretty sure he vanished some time before this version of the forum came online.

No reply to pm's or emails.

Vamos ter que aguentar um pouco mais ou alguém vai ter que adoptar o projecto.

My friends, we have contact:
Quote
Good to hear from you!  Sorry I couldn't respond sooner.

I honestly had no idea the M20 forums were even still up, or that anyone was still interested in M20SW- thanks for the heads-up and the redirect.  I knew a new owner had taken control of the M20 name, but I wasn't sure what happened to the system beyond that.

I'm a public school teacher (by day) so my life is crazy-busy right now.  That will change soon enough at the end of May, when I can get back to gaming over the summer.  Actually, a lot of M20SW was re-written during our last play session, and I've still got those notes floating around somewhere.  The re-written rules are more like regular M20, but have *not* been playtested so I don't know if they will work in actual practice yet.  I've already got a game lined up around early June, so I can see how they work then.

If people are still interested, I'd love to share my edits after that.  In the meantime, I don't consider M20SW to be "my" thing alone- anyone who wants to can jump in and rework a new version with  my absolute blessing.  The important thing is that people are enjoying the rich Star Wars setting without getting bogged down with a ton of rules, right?

If you feel inclined, you might pass this information on to the regular forum?

Thanks!

Sweet.. I can't wait till Nomad can get back to the new forums with his edited version. Thanks luis. BTW since Nomad he has changed things & we'll not know how things have been changed. Is there someone willing to collect the stuff already posted here into a PDF ? Even if it is sans Vehical construction rules , I'd love to have a version of what is done so far but don't know how to make PDFs.
