The day has come! The upgraded forum will be arriving this week. That means to stop any posts from getting lost I will be temporarily locking this forum up tomorrow. I'll wait to start any of this until the Monday game is done. Immediately after the transfer I'll shift the categories around, re-upload the downloads and then open the forum for postings.
I imagine this being done in the morning tomorrow though all of the plugins won’t immediately be switched on. The new setup will be very streamlined experience that is much faster to navigate and use, but will require a tad getting used to. For that reason PLEASE read the sticky at the top titled “Please Read Before Post”.
Overall I am very excited. The big to features we will gain from this are:
•   Users can create accounts with their social network id’s
•   Forum users will automatically be registered for the wiki
•   The blogs posts will be created as threads and comments will sync both ways between the blog and the forum.
All in all this will help us achieve an easier more integrated experience.

I appreciate that lol. One thing to note is that this forum will actually stay live for the purposes of permalinks pointing here. The threads will actually be sent to the new forum where posting can continue like normal.

Also a list of things we will lose and why:

Portal Homepage

• It kind of presents a cluttered look to the forum for first time visitors.

Chat

• It's buggy.
• Is actually a security issue that has caused to issues in the past.
• Isn't that needed.
• Resource drain

User Map

• Meh?
• Resource drain

Play By Post

• This was a tougher one, but ultimately there are so much better services for this. <-Myth Weavers, and Google+ to name a few.
• I don't plan to ever invest in this area with my limited resources/ability.

For those looking for a sneak peak check out http://www.forum.goplaynation.com/ I am using that as a place to develop things once everything is in place I'll drop it into the new directory over here. I am thinking community.koboldenterprise.com. Any other ideas on a subdomain for the new directory?

So the downloads section will remain in tact? I would still use this login to edit my files?

This installation will only remain active because the new installation uses a different permalink structure. To keep all the incoming links from breaking. Banners will go up directing folks to the new installation. 

Unfortunately I don't have the ability to import the downloads so I will have to manually go through and move them over. Ultimately this site will be fairly useless except for directing people coming from other sites to the correct address.
