It's probably known that I have an unhealthy obsession with SWN, and I really like to play it. But I've also had this little, nagging idea kicking around in the back of my head for some months now:
Tomb of Horrors.
In Space.
Yes, I want to create a ridiculously fatal space dungeon-crawl that will drive everyone mad. Probably. My ideas for the background go like this:
-An AI (who calls himself Smith) has been trapped on this space station since even before the Scream (so roughly 600 years) and has gone quite insane. But what is an estranged AI supposed to do for 6 centuries? Try to 'fix' humankind. He's been slowly abducting humans from the nearby colony planets to 'advance'. The PCs would be such unfortunate souls to find themselves trapped aboard Smith's "Castle in The Sky". Also trapped inside are rabid maltech creations (mutants aka failed experiments), feral prisoners, and Smith's robotic servitors.
Also, Smith can control the whole station's layout nearly on a whim, thanks to its modular design.
But a ray of hope! Marine Detachment 123-B has landed on the station in hopes of shutting down Smith and rescuing the prisoners, but they just play a pawn in his larger game...
I'm thinking it'd be a 4 or so hour one-shot session some time in the summer. See if anyone can stop Smith and escape the station, or will everyone die alone in the cold and silent hallways? Character creation would be per the
normal rules, and all classes would be accepted. Everyone dies equally in the Castle in The Sky.
I'm sorry if you're depressed now.
