I'm guessing this would be 'modern' in the sense that this takes place during the Vietnam War roughly 40 or so years ago.  This is not an M20 game, but uses 2d6 for all of its task resolutions.  The players make up one whole squad of US soldiers in the 1st Calvary Division, aka the guys who used helicopters first.

Here are the available slots for anyone interested.  Those already taken are marked as such.

Squad Leader- Crose

Team Leader-

Scout-

Scout- Jacs74

Grenadier-

Grenadier-

Machine Gunner-

Machine Gunner-

RTO (Radioman)-Andrew (my friend)

Medic-

Any slots not filled by PCs are filled by NPCs, but I'd really love to see as many 'human' characters as I could get, for roleplaying's sake.  This is a one-shot adventure, so you only need to commit for one night, which has been determined as February 26th.  I would like to run it from 7-11PM (EST), to at least give us some more time with it since we're doing this once.  If it seems popular, I may set up more missions in the future, but I'm focusing on the present for know.

UPDATE FOR PLAYERS: If you jump over to myRPG, I have opened the game to the public.  Feel free to sign up, and remember to select your role during creation!!

Alright people, we got six days until game-time!  If you have not yet signed up on myRPG (http://myrpg.ca/), I'd ask you to please do so!  Remember your role when prompted to choose so.  There are still slots available if anyone else still wants to play!  Quick reminder on the date/time: Feb. 26th, 7:00PM EST is when we'll log on.  I'll give a little rules run-down and make sure everyone's character creation went smoothly!

See you then!

A LITTLE THING: I don't know if everyone has the time/ability to do this, but here's a list of outside sources that could help for the game.  They're all movies, because I don't expect you to find/buy a book and read it before Sunday.

We Were Soldiers, starring Mel Gibson.  It is actually about the unit the PCs are part of.  Takes place a few years before our game, but none the less can set the scene.
Apocalypse Now, takes place in Cambodia a bit, but it really focuses on the horrors of warfare.  And Vietnam in general.  Starring Daddy Sheen.
Platoon, starring a young Charlie "Not-Warlock" Sheen, it follows a young man who volunteered to serve, and watches as everything falls away.
Full Metal Jacket, by Stanley Kubrick.  It gets pretty in-depth with the people on the ground.  Also famous for "Me love you long time."
Green Berets, by John Wayne.  Considering the PCs aren't Special Forces, this really doesn't apply.  But it's still good. *shrug*
Forrest Gump has a bit of Vietnam and the 'war' back home.  My favorite effect is Gary Sinise's lack of legs.

Well, that's my two cents.  They're just there to give you a little inspiration to your characters and for roleplaying scenarios.

ANOTHER UPDATE: I would like to create mock dog-tags for your characters to use as their icons.  You can either post the needed information here or PM it to me, then'll I'll make 'em up.  Dog tags have the following info:

Last Name
First Name
Service Number: 12-345-678 format.
Blood Type
Religion (Note: Many of Muslim faith protested the war and refused to join the draft, famously Muhammed Ali)

I'll make those up as quickly as you post 'em!  Here's an example of the one I made up for my friend Andrew:

NOTE: I did some research and it turns out SSNs were not used back then!  I'll randomly generate a service number for your character, so don't worry about that.  Image fixed also.

Here's a little reminder for everyone signed up for Operation: Chessman-37!  We start at 7:00PM EST tomorrow!  If you want to play and haven't signed up, PM me or just simply be there at the allotted time!  We'll be over at http://myrpg.ca/.  I'll probably jump on about 20-30 mins early, this is a good chance to catch up to me if you want to play.
