So here's the thing.

I know I've done the whole recruiting thing for Relics & Ruins, and I have the whole DEADWATCH thing going, but I recently got a game from RPGNow called GRUNT.  It's a hard-boiled Vietnam RPG that really focuses on the realism and role-playing.  I'm trying to dredge up enough people to start something here (my campus), and I was wondering if anyone was interested in a quick and dirty one-shot here on M20.  I would just use the chat for the game, and one of the adventure seeds included in the rules.

It'd be nice to get at least 4+ people to play.  The hardest part will be finding a date that fits for everyone.  But we'll cross that bridge when it comes.

Well, that's my 2 cents.  Anyone think they're up to surviving the hell that is Vietnam?

So here's some more information.  GRUNT is not a Microlite variant.  It uses 2d6 for task resolution.  The PCs are in Echo Troop, 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry, which is part of the famous 1st Cavalry Division.  The PCs make up one whole squad.  Here are the 'roles' which the PCs can take.

Squad Leader: The Staff Sergeant controls the whole squad.  He leads one team and lets the Team Leader take the other.

Team Leader: The second in command to the Staff Sergeant (Squad-Leader).  He commands the other team.

Scout: He is the point-man for the squad, checking for ambushes and booby traps.

Scout: (Same as above)

Grenadier: He are trained with the M79 grenade launcher, and his job is to attack targets not in line-of-sight.  With

Grenadier: (Same as above)

Machine-gunner: He holds the 'Hog' in his hands.  His M60 can end the life of anything that gets in its path.

Machine-gunner: (Same as above)

Medic: Self-explanatory.  His job is to keep everyone alive.

RTO: The radioman for the squad.  He can call in support when needed.

I'd prefer to get the Squad Leader and Team Leader filled first, because the rules suggest that PCs be in command of the unit.

UPDATE: I worked together with Nik and got the system itself set up on myRPG as a custom game.  So we can do that at least.  But for the record, this is a one-time thing.  One day, for a couple hours.  If people really like it or something I'll work it out, but this is literally show up, play, and go home (hopefully) alive.

Everybody is armed.  Grin

As for commitment, as of right now this is going to be a one-shot.  If I can get enough people to play, I'll organize a one day event.  It'll only be a couple of hours, and that's it.

I'll expand it further if people really enjoy it.  I actually managed (with the help of Nik, mostly his doing really) to create the whole system on myRPG!  But for now I'm still thinking of running it on the M20 chat.  Mostly to make it easier for users who are un-familiar with the platform.

Weeot, what days are best for you, if there are any?  I want to get a consensus of schedules for people so I can work something out.

I can make Sunday work.

If you don't mind Crose, I'd like to see you fill a Squad Leader or Team Leader role.  I really want to see PCs leading the men instead of you guys getting bossed around by NPCs.  Weeot, I'll let you play a medic if you so desire.  Medics are important.  Very...important.

No problem Kagin.  I'll chalk you up for a Scout.  If Crose wants to take Squad or Team Leader, I'll only need one more player for the other command role...

Alright, so Crose shall be the Squad Leader.  I need one more player for Team Leader.  Of course, there's still plenty of slots for any others.

Well, I'll be gone on the 19th, so perhaps the 26th?  How does that work for everyone?

UPDATE: I know I said I wanted to run it here on the chat, but Nik and I spent a lot of work fixing myRPG up to run this thing.  Is that okay with everyone?
